The two numbers in the element box can be used to find
out information about the particles that can be found in an atom.
Protons - the same as the atomic number
(carbon has 6 protons)
Electrons - the same as the atomic number
(carbon has 6 electrons)
Neutrons - this is the atomic mass number
minus the atomic number
(12-6 = 6) Carbon must have 6 neutrons.
