NAUTICAL SKILLS DAY 2005
If you are going to be a Sea Scout, you need to brush up on your Nautical Skills. This year we had a day on Barton Broad sailing canoeing and building rafts. Now building rafts is lots of fun, but it is not as easy as it looks. Here are a few pictures:

THE NEW BOATSHED IS TAKING SHAPE
It's been a lot of hard work, but the roof is now on the new boatshed. The doors should follow soon.

SUMMER CAMP 2003
Summer camp - everyone had a good time (apart from the moaning about the 14 mile hike!!).  Very briefly the itinerary was:

Day 1 - Left HQ, train to Gunton and then walked to Northrepps, set up camp and walked down to beach and went swimming.
Day 2 - Walked along the beach from Northrepps to Happisburgh (yes all the way!!) stopping for fish & chips at Walcott.  We got a lift for the last bit to Ingham where we had a barbecue.
Day 3 - Back to HQ by car and then cycled to Hautbois along the Bure Valley Railway, up the climbing tower and then cycled along back roads to Irstead.
Day 4 - Back woods living at Beeston Park, sleeping in bivouacs(!) etc.
Day 5 - Trip on the solar boat 'Ra' on Barton Broad and then canoeing
Day 6 - Trip on boats to Sutton Windmill and then pack up camp and head home for that much needed bath or shower!!

We hope to have a PL and APL training camp before Christmas and a winter camp for all Scouts in February or March.
Also coming up in October is the 'Night Exercise' in which we are hoping to enter a couple of teams (another sleepless night!).

Here are a few pictures to show you what we got up to:

Building our New HQ

Building your own Headquarters is a major undertaking for any Scout Group. It takes a major fund raising programme followed by a lot of hard work to get the job done. Our new HQ was opened in 1986. Here are some pictures showing it taking shape:
