It’s a nice place to live
Ludham Village lies right in the middle of the Norfolk Broads.
Christina and I moved to Ludham in July 2002. After 27
years in London, Ludham was quite a contrast. It is a lovely
peaceful place to live with great scenery and the lakes and
rivers of the Norfolk Broads all around. Ludham is a lively
and active village with lots of things going on.
At the centre of Ludham is the church of St Catherine. A surprisingly large
church of flint construction. Inside is a superb painted rood screen which is a
rare example. The church is well worth a visit.
Christina and I have volunteered to look after part of the churchyard. There is
a lot more about the church on the Archive Group website.
As well as running the Archive Group and strimming the churchyard, Christina
and I are also volunteers at the Ludham Internet Cafe where we teach
computers to people of all levels and abilities. The internet cafe is typical of
Ludham. It’s free and a fantastic village resource.
Ludham is surrounded by the Norfolk Broads and we get a lot of visitors in the
summer. We have good shops, pubs, places of interest and some fantastic
country walks. Again, you can find more details on the archive website. We
keep our boat at a mooring in Womack Water which is Ludham’s own little
broad. In the summer we are often out on the rivers. We often go with the
Womack Herons Boat Club which is a local boating group, one of the many clubs and societies Ludham has
to offer.
I expect that what you really want to see are some photographs, so here are a few for you to look at. Just
click on them to enlarge them. There are more photographs on my photo page and on the Archive Group
website where you will also find a history of the village.

The Ludham Archive
I am the chairman of the
Ludham Archive Group. This
local history group was set up
in 2002 to create a lasting
archive of the history of
Ludham village.
It has been a big success. we
now hold over 15,000
photographs and documents as
well as lots of video.

Ludham
People often ask me if Ludham
is a friendly welcoming place to
move to. I tell them that it really
is a great community and a very
welcoming place.
As always, the more you put
into it, the more you get out of
it.
