| THE BARBARA DICK-CLELAND TROPHY. N.C.B.A.is holding its next 'No-Fear' Swiss Teams for this trophy event on Monday, 10th March 2003 at 6.40 p.m. at Horning Village Hall (near Wroxham)
This competition of four 6-board matches is intended to encourage inexperienced and unranked players to take part; therefore the following rules apply:- 1. All players should be BELOW THE RANK OF STAR MASTER (10.000 local points). However, the organisers may, at their discretion, invite a higher ranked player, should it be necessary to make up the numbers in the event of last minute withdrawals. 2. You may send in your entries as a team-of-four, a threesome, a pair or even as an individual, as we will try to find players who will be available to make up the team. 3. Only SIMPLE SYSTEMS are allowed as follows:-
Natural systems with strong 2-bids: 2NT negative Two Clubs (Acol strong : 2D negative 1NT limited to 3 points within the 12-18 point range Stayman 2C opposite 1NT Stayman 3C or Baron 3C opposite 2NT Blackwood, Gerber (straight) Take-out doubles of suit bids at the one-level Any defence to pre-empts Natural defence to 1NT Standard leads Signals & Discards : High-Low encouraging or to show even number of cards (players must specify which) As 'No-Fear' means a friendly atmosphere, we must ask the more experienced players to be very patient with newcomers who may not be familiar with some of the above, and also to assist with the paper-work. There will be a number of people, not playing, who will be there especially to assist you. There will be prizes to first and second places, and to the highest placed team deemed inexperienced players.
