Conference

Madchester is no more. What was once the Hacienda is now just a block of flats. So it's respectable enough for our Conference!!
A small but select group represented Cheshire branch in Manchester. Our Motions were heard as priority resolutions demonstrating the interest which they generated. The speeches were delivered with skill and enthusiasm despite the fact that it was a first time for at least one of our speakers. Much discussion was generated and the president had to limit the number of speakers which caused some complaints. The press showed more than usual interest and both Mary Bousted and our speakers were invited to make statements on the radio. The first resolution was on serious sanctions for parents of persistently disruptive pupils the second on male role models. Both resolutions had two clauses passed and one lost. Well done to all who contributed to the production of the motions and their delivery. S. Barnwell
