ATL's POLICY

“ ATL’s national policy is that we support full 52-week employment for all support staff in schools and believe that there should be an end to term time only employment. Indeed we have raised this issue vociferously with government ministers at our last two annual conferences.”

Shirley Barnwell carried the protest to the very heart of the Association at Conference 2005 when she spoke to a Resolution which condemned the appalling treatment handed out to Teaching Assistants nationally. Needless to say the Resolution was passed unanimously and it is now up to the Executive Committee to pursue the issue with ministers.
