UNION LEARNING REPS

The Union Learning Rep programme is firmly up and running across the Branch. The ultimate aim is to produce school based Learning Agreements across the County to show that schools are committed to training and developing all its employees to the highest standard needed to ensure the effective delivery of services to its students. In order to achieve this more Learning Reps are needed as more Learning Agreements are put in place. You too could become a Learning Rep with paid time in which to learn the job and to fulfil its requirements. Click here to send for more information.

There is also a clear link to CPD both in terms of individual life-long learning directed at career development and of professional development defined by the needs of the school as set out in its Performance Management policy. Your ATL Learning Rep is available to help you personally and your school generally to fulfil whatever training requirements you need.

WHAT IS THE ULR's ROLE?
Once a Learning Agreement is in place within a school, the role of the ULR should be seen as complementary of the School or College Training and Development Co-ordinator. Both will play leading roles in the joint consultative committee to be set up under the the terms of the Learning Agreement to which will be devolved all joint training and learning policy developments.

Within this context, a ULR works towards:
• Promoting a whole-school/college approach to lifelong learning
• Developing awareness and knowledge of learning opportunities
• Working with line managers to identify learning needs
• Promoting CPD opportunities
• Enhancing partnerships between staff, Unions and management in meeting the CPD agenda
• Contributing to achieving the work/life balance for all staff and thus enhancing professional job satisfaction.
