Who are the Baha'is?
The Bahá'is are a diverse community made up of  all creeds, colours and nations, irrespective of ethnic, religious or financial status. The Bahá'i Faith is open to all, one of the fundamental truths of  the Bahá'i faith is that all the manifestations of God are part of an unfolding plan in which we are all playing a part.
 
Many Bahá'is come from a background of belief in God and in one of His manifestations, this is complimentary to the understanding that all religions spring from the same source and are therefore not in competition with each other. The goal is for all people to have a common vision despite difference, the idea of unity in diversity.
The Bahá'is in Belfast are from various backgrounds and nations, from Ireland, The United Kingdom, India, Iran and China.The diversity of the Bahá'is in Belfast is a good indication of the diversity of the Bahá'i community worldwide which has an enormous cultural diversity, its teachings and writings have been translated into hundreds of languages across all the continents of the world.

The Bahá'i Faith has no clergy, it's administration is taken care of by elected bodies, known locally as Local Spiritual Assemblies, there is one such Assembly in Belfast. The Local Spiritual Assembly of Belfast is made up of nine Bahá'is who live in the area. There are National Spiritual Assemblies which administrate and serve country area's and there is a central global body known as the Universal House of Justice. all of which are made up of nine Bahá'is. People serving on these institutions are not seen as priests or a hierarchy they are seen as administrative governing bodies and are elected by secret ballot in a democratic fashion..
