Millie and Ruth in Kentucky
Our little 5 hr. 32 min trip turned into a 7 hr. trip. We peed our way from Lake Erie to Kentucky all day. We got to Millie's about 5:30 and before we could turn the truck off she was flying out her door whooping and hollering and jumping up and down and running towards me. Geez, ya thought I was a rock star or something! It was exciting! She's more beautiful in person than her pictures!!!And the twins are perfect (I'm so jealous!)We hugged and laughed and talked outside, relaxed and had a few beers (it WAS 74 when we got there) but in about 2 hrs. the weather turned crazy and we had a tornado coming in. Dark, windy blowing rain and the sirens blasting. Millie had her adrenaline pumped and had me wired too as we watched it unfold on TV. Then Dennie blew in (literally) in the midst of it all. What a good looking guy! They make a handsome couple! It eventually ended and we didn't end up in Kansas but I had my drinks and cigs ready in case we got blown away. What a night! Our gracious hostess gave up her bed for us and waited on us hand and foot.
Ms. Millie has done well for herself--her house is absolutely beautiful!! We had the best time laughing, talking, crying and laughing some more. Yes, we talked about all of you LOL! It was like a high school slumber party! We got a late start Sat. and met her Daddy at Wallmart and her cousin. Then Dennie took us sightseeing and we saw his house, the town, Daniel Boone's grave and the historical section of Frankfort. What a quaint town! The weather didn't cooperate but we had a good time anyhow. Sat. night they took us to the steak house for our anniversary w/ her friends. What a great time we had with them! Sat. night we watched the fireworks from Thunder Over Louisville on her BIG TV. OMG! They were the best fireworks I've ever seen and almost as good as being there w/o the crowds. We ran into a couple from Sweden at the hotel the next night who came the whole way just for them so that should tell you how good they were.
We decided to leave on Sunday and go halfway b/c the trip down really beat us up in one day. They made us an excellent breakfast and Dennie, God bless him, packed our truck for us since he has had rotator surgery on both shoulders also. We all just got along fantastic like old friends. We never ran out of things to talk about and Bruce and Dennie got along excellent. And hey, Ms. Millie, I only gained 1/2 lb. It must have been the chocolate covered strawberries!!!
All in all the trip went very well and they want to come to Cleveland to the Rock Hall and visit us. Can't wait! If anybody watched the Weather Channel it said Cleveland got 10" of snow. Well, we were the lucky ones and didn't get a thing in our town.
And here's proof positive that Ruth and Mil are in fact REAL people!!!
