Echoes
Summer moonlight, a silver ribbon on the sea
It brings back long forgotten memories to me.
Father time strange tricks will sometimes play
Memories of so long ago seems like yesterday
Enchanted summers when life and love new
The world belonged to me dreams came true
************************
He was a comrade and my good friend
He served others right up to the end.
We shared that which only men can share
Who have looked upon deaths in its lair
No wish for words of praise only fair.
Great for others was his love and care
So let this brief epitaph be suffice
Verily and gladly he paid the price
From the truth he would not hide
Bravely he lived and bravely he died
And I am proud to say he was a
Comrade and my good friend.
