Lovers Lane

In a country lane as I walked alone
To places where two once did roam
A though came to me without strain
Love is so much like a country lane.

The Country lane twists and is long
For the journey you must be strong
Rough and smooth it will be found
Only go forward can’t turn around.

The country lane is not very wide
Only you two together may ride.
Be prepared for changing weather
Ride out life’s storms together.

The country lane is not found in books
Rocks block the way, that how it looks
Over, under, round them you will pass
The other side there’s greener grass

The banks are high to left and right
Press on there’s no end in sight
As you pass along stock it in mind
You’re not first, others come behind.

In a country lane still I’m not alone
I walk where we two once did roam.
Hence the reason you’ll see is plain
That love is much like a country lane.
