Mild is an old and traditional beer style - often slightly sweeter, slightly darker and lower in gravity than other beers such as Bitter. Because it is slightly lower in gravity you may be able to drink more without becoming intocicated - so it is a good "session beer" and a very refreshing drink if you are dehydrated after strenuous work or exercise. It is beleived that just fifty years ago about 60% of all the beer drunk in the UK was Mild - sadly, today it can be hard to find - ask for it in your local pub or visit these local pubs to try some:

Ipswich Milestone (sometimes two Milds available)

Ipswich Dove (St Helens Street)

Ipswich Emperor (Norwich Road)

Ipswich Fat Cat (Spring Road)

Ipswich Lions Head (Caldwell Hall Road)

Some of our local brewers still regularly produce a Mild - why not go to your local and ask for:

Batemans Dark Mild (3%) from Lincolnshire

Buffy's Mild (4.2%) from Norfolk

Earl Soham Gannet Mild (3.3%)
