"My
fellow Americans.... America's leadership and prestige depend, not merely upon our
unmatched material progress, riches and military strength, but on how we use our power in
the interests of world peace and human betterment... This conjunction of an immense
military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience.... we must guard against the
acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of
misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination
endanger our liberties or democratic processes.... America knows that this world of ours,
ever growing smaller, must avoid becoming a community of dreadful fear and hate, and be,
instead, a proud confederation of mutual trust and respect. Such a confederation must be
one of equals."

"All propaganda must be popular and
its intellectual level must be adjusted to the most limited intelligence among those it is
addressed to. Consequently, the greater the mass it is intended to reach, the lower its
purely intellectual level will have to be. But if, as in propaganda for sticking out
a war, the aim is to influence a whole people, we must avoid excessive intellectual
demands on our public, and too much caution cannot be extended in this direction.... all
effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in
slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by
your slogan... Thus we see that propaganda must follow a simple line and correspondingly
the basic tactics must be psychologically sound."
Adolph Hitler - 'Mein Kampf', Chapter 6
1939-1945
"During the short time since the war
began in Iraq, it has been revealing to watch a corresponding war being waged right here
in the Land of the Brave and the Free. The reason I categorize it as war is that it
conforms to one of the definitions given in the American Heritage Dictionary of the
English Language: 'a condition of active antagonism or contention.' The reason I identify
it as revealing is that it has exposed just how intolerant certain Americans can be of
those who are brave enough to exercise their constitutional right to be free to protest a
war that they believe to be immoral and antithetical to the interests of their country, as
well as the rest of the world. A rising movement has emerged to protest those who protest
the war. And those who suggest that war protesters should simply accept the fact that we
are at war and line up to support the president are entitled to freely express their
opinion. However, theirs is not a brave position to take, nor does it support the free
country they feign to defend. In fact, efforts to condemn, stereotype, marginalize and
otherwise silence those who stand in opposition to this war are among the most un-American
activities imaginable. Therefore, I call for a protest of those who protest those who
protest the war. While pretending to act out of love for their country, these phony
'patriots' need to repeat fifth-grade history class until they gain a better grasp of the
principles of freedom that America truly stands for. Meanwhile, those who promote the
singularly unimaginative concept of blindly supporting our 'elected' leader are not merely
guilty of black-and-white thinking. Their automatic compliance is potentially dangerous.
Hermann Goering was the Commander-in-Chief of the World War II Luftwaffe (Nazi air force),
President of the Reichstag (German Parliament) and Hitlers designated successor. As
such, Goering remains a symbol of the most horrific example of genocide in human history.
Having been captured and put on trial by the Allies after the end of World War II, Goering
was found guilty of war crimes and was sentenced to death by hanging at the Nuremberg
Trials. Hours before his execution, Goering committed suicide by ingesting smuggled
cyanide capsules. During the trial, Gustave Gilbert, a psychologist who published his
conversations with the prisoners in the book Nuremberg Diary, interviewed Goering. The
following is an excerpt from a conversation Gilbert had with Goering in his cell on the
evening of April 18, 1946. Goering: 'Why, of course, the people dont want war. Why would some poor slob
on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to
come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally, the common people dont want war,
neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is
understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and
it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a
fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship.' Gilbert : 'There is one difference. In a
democracy the people have some say in the matter through their elected representatives,
and in the United States only Congress can declare wars.' Goering: 'Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can
always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell
them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and
exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.'... Regardless of
your position on the war, there is no denying this basic fact: America is not under
attack, and certainly not by Iraq. Yet the Bush administration has been doing its utmost
since 9/11 to fan the fires of fear among Americans in an effort to convince us that we
are being attacked, all evidence to the contrary notwithstanding."

"Not since 'Mein Kampf' has a
geopolitical punch been so blatantly telegraphed, years ahead of the blow. Adolf Hitler
clearly spelled out his plans to destroy the Jews and launch wars of conquest to secure
German domination of world affairs in his 1925 book, long before he ever assumed power.
Despite the zigzags of rhetoric he later employed, the various PR spins and temporary
justifications offered for this or that particular policy, any attentive reader of his
vile regurgitation could have divined his intentions as he drove his country -- and the
world -- to murderous upheaval. Similarly -- in method, if not entirely in substance --
the Bush Regime's foreign policy is also being carried out according to a strict blueprint
written years ago, then renewed a few months before the Regime was installed in power by
the judicial coup of December 2000. The first version, mentioned in passing here last
week, was drafted by a team operating under then-Defense Secretary Dick Cheney in 1992. It
set out a new doctrine for U.S. power in the 21st century, an aggressive, unilateral
approach that would secure American domination of world affairs -- 'by force if
necessary,' as one of the acolytes put it. When the Dominators were temporarily ousted
from government after 1992, they continued their strategic planning with funding from the
military-energy-security apparatus and right-wing foundations. This culminated in a new
group, the aptly-named Project for a New American Century (PNAC).
Members included hard-right players like Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Zalmay
Khalilzad (now 'special envoy' to the satrapy of Afghanistan) and other empire aspirants
currently perched in the upper reaches of government power. In September 2000, PNAC
updated the original Cheney plan in a published report, 'Strengthening America's
Defenses.' In this and related documents, the earlier precepts were reiterated and
refined. The plans called for unprecedented hikes in military spending, the plantation of
American bases in Central Asia and the Middle East, the toppling of recalcitrant regimes,
the militarization of outer space, the abrogation of international treaties, the
willingness to use nuclear weapons and control of the world's energy resources. And the
present course of action was clearly set forth: 'The United States has for decades sought
to play a more permanent role in Gulf regional security. While the unresolved conflict
with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force
presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein.' But Iraq is
just a stepping stone. Iran is next -- indeed, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the PNAC team say that
Iran is 'perhaps a far greater threat' to U.S. oil hegemony. Other nations will follow,
including Russia and China. In one way or another -- by military means or economic
dominance, by conquest, alliance or silent acquiescence -- they must all be brought to
heel, forcibly prevented from 'challenging our leadership or even aspiring to a larger
regional or global role.'"

".... it is clear the US authorities
did little or nothing to pre-empt the events of 9/11. It is known that at least 11
countries provided advance warning to the US of the 9/11 attacks. Two senior Mossad experts were sent to Washington in August
2001 to alert the CIA and FBI to a cell of 200 terrorists said to be preparing a big
operation. The list they provided included the names of four of the 9/11 hijackers, none
of whom was arrested... All of this makes it all the more astonishing - on the war on
terrorism perspective - that there was such slow reaction on September 11 itself. The
first hijacking was suspected at not later than 8.20am, and the last hijacked aircraft
crashed in Pennsylvania at 10.06am. Not a single fighter plane was scrambled to
investigate from the US Andrews airforce base, just 10 miles from Washington DC, until
after the third plane had hit the Pentagon at 9.38 am. Why not? There were standard FAA intercept procedures for
hijacked aircraft before 9/11. Between September 2000 and June 2001 the US military
launched fighter aircraft on 67 occasions to chase suspicious aircraft. It is a US legal
requirement that once an aircraft has moved significantly off its flight plan, fighter
planes are sent up to investigate.... The evidence again is quite clear that plans for
military action against Afghanistan and Iraq were in hand well before 9/11.... Given this
background, it is not surprising that some have seen the US failure to avert the 9/11
attacks as creating an invaluable pretext for attacking Afghanistan in a war that had
clearly already been well planned in advance.... the PNAC blueprint of September 2000
states that the process of transforming the US into 'tomorrow's dominant force' is likely
to be a long one in the absence of 'some catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a new
Pearl Harbor'. The 9/11 attacks allowed the US to press the 'go' button for a strategy in
accordance with the PNAC agenda which it would otherwise have been politically impossible
to implement. The overriding motivation for this political smokescreen is that the US and the UK are beginning to run out of secure hydrocarbon
energy supplies."

"There's a disturbing irony in a U.S.
administration that claims it intends to establish democracy in Iraq - yet all the while
systematically dismantling democracy at home. Access to information about government
actions, the ability to share that information with other citizens and the right to
protest government policies are all fundamental to a representative democracy. Open
government and open records are not popular concepts with the Bush administration. Yet
they are essential to a citizenry that wishes to participate in helping the government
select a wise direction in both domestic and foreign policies. Attorney General John
Ashcroft, with the blessing of the Bush administration, has stifled the flow of
information and its sharing - in the name of national security. Crucial government Web sites have been shut
down. Access to presidential records has been dramatically limited. Freedom of Information
Act requests for government documents have been denied or the documents heavily blacked
out. The president and the attorney general have both refused to give proper congressional
committees the information they have requested. These House and Senate committees are
supposed to exercise oversight in regard to the Department of Justice. President George W.
Bush has forced peaceful protesters into so-called Free Speech Zones - out of sight and
hearing of the president - as he passes by in his motorcade. Only those cheering citizens
who support Bush and his policies are allowed curbside to be seen by the president..... In a recent interview, now retired
General Tommy Franks, who led the U.S. military invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, told the
men's lifestyle magazine Cigar Aficionado that if the United States were hit with a weapon
of mass destruction that inflicted large casualties, the Constitution would probably be
discarded in favor of a form of military government. Such a statement from a former
four-star general may be meant to prepare the American people for the end of their
constitutional form of government, the end of democracy. Because Franks said it, however,
doesn't mean it will happen. The Constitution has survived more than 200 years of wars and
serious threats to the nation. Franks's statement may be a scare tactic or a political
trial balloon to see how the American public reacts. In either case, the general's comment
reveals his own doubts about the inner strength and will of the American people - to
uphold the rule of law and to trust the document that has made their nation great, the
U.S. Constitution."

"Lakhdar Brahimi, wrapping up his U.N. mission to bring an interim government to Iraq, looked a little tired and disheartened Wednesday as he said the compromise he negotiated was the best possible under American control. When the U.S.-appointed Governing Council announced this week that it had selected a new prime minister, Brahimi seemed to be caught flat-footed. The man tapped for the post, Iyad Allawi, has close ties to the CIA. Almost immediately after being named prime minister, he called for the United States to keep its troops in Iraq, a position unpopular with many Iraqis. Asked how big a role the American administration had in forming the government and selecting the prime minister and president, Brahimi reminded reporters that American Ambassador L. Paul Bremer runs things in Iraq. 'Bremer is the dictator of Iraq,' he said. 'He has the money. He has the signature.' He later added: 'I will not say who was my first choice, and who was not my first choice ... I will remind you that the Americans are governing this country.'""The Pope publicly rebuked President
Bush yesterday over the invasion of Iraq and expressed dismay over prisoner abuse and
continued turmoil in the Middle East. In a Papal lecture far stronger and more stinging
than the White House had expected, the Pope told Mr Bush during a meeting at the Vatican
that without a commitment to 'shared human values' the War on Terror was unwinnable. As he
spoke, thousands of anti-war protesters took to the streets of Rome to vent their anger at
the violence in Iraq.... Outside the Vatican, thousands had no intention of blessing Mr
Bush. With an extra 10,000 riot police drafted into the city, protesters set dustbins
alight, daubed Romes ancient walls with anti-Bush slogans and caused traffic
chaos."

"CIA Director George Tenet resigned
yesterday citing 'personal reasons.' Tenet, who was the
second longest serving director of Central Intelligence, informed Bush of his decision
in an hour-long White House meeting Wednesday night. In what The New York Times describes
as an 'almost bizarre' announcement, the president revealed the news in a hurriedly
arranged appearance before television cameras before leaving on a trip to Europe....
Despite his claims, many analysts say that Tenet is a fall guy for an administration
plagued by accusations of misconduct. In recent months, the Bush administration has
attempted to lay much of the blame for its false claims about Iraqi weapons of mass
destruction, its handling of 9/11 and its justification for the war in Iraq on Tenet. The
move also came amid a storm over an alleged Pentagon leak of highly classified
intelligence to US-backed Iraqi exile leader Ahmad Chalabi. After the announcement,
Chalabi charged that Tenet himself was behind the allegations against him"

"President Bush confirmed on Thursday
that he had consulted a private lawyer to see if he needed legal advice to deal with the
grand jury investigation into how the identity of an undercover C.I.A. officer was
revealed. At issue is who told the syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak last summer that
Valerie Plame, the wife of the former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, was an officer with
the Central Intelligence Agency. Mr. Novak attributed the information to two 'senior
administration officials.'... At the time, the White House was unhappy because Mr. Wilson had publicly questioned the president's
statement in his 2003 State of the Union address that Saddam Hussein had sought to
purchase uranium in Africa. Under federal law, disclosure of the identity of an undercover
intelligence officer can be a felony."

The Bush Family History
A Long Association With Dictatorship
"The president
of the Florida Holocaust Museum said Saturday that George W. Bush's grandfather derived a
portion of his personal fortune through his affiliation with a Nazi-controlled bank. John Loftus, a former
prosecutor in the Justice Department's Nazi War Crimes Unit, said his research found that
Bush's grandfather, Prescott Bush, was a principal in the Union Banking Corp. in Manhattan
in the late 1930s and the 1940s. Leading Nazi industrialists secretly owned the bank at
that time, Loftus said, and were moving money into it through a second bank in Holland
even after the United States declared war on Germany. The bank was liquidated in 1951,
Loftus said, and Bush's grandfather and great-grandfather received $1.5 million from the
bank as part of that dissolution. 'That's where the Bush family fortune came from: It came
from the Third Reich,' Loftus said.... The World War II experience points out how easy it
was then -- and remains today -- to hide money in multinational funds. That money flows
into American politics today, he said, from 'a series of multinational corporations
behaving like pirates. They don't care about ideology; they care about money.'... Loftus'
speech left many in tears. 'I am absolutely shocked,' said Nancy Krauss of Punta Gorda. 'I
wish this would have come out before the election. My husband voted for Bush. I don't
think he would have voted for him if he would have known.'"

"....The Nazi army had been equipped
by Flick, Harriman, Walker and Bush, with materials essentially stolen from Poland......In
many ways, Bush's Hamburg-Amerika [shipping] Line was the pivot for the entire Hitler
project....Certain actions taken directly by the Harriman-Bush shipping line in 1932 must
be ranked among the gravest acts of treason in this century. The U.S. embassy in
Berlin reported back to Washington that the 'costly election campaigns' and 'the cost of
maintaining a private army of 300,000 to 400,000 men' had raised questions as to the
Nazis' financial backers. The constitutional government of the German republic moved to
defend national freedom by ordering the Nazi Party private armies disbanded. The U.S.
embassy reported that the Hamburg-Amerika Line was purchasing and distributing propaganda
attacks against the German government, for attempting this last-minute crackdown on
Hitler's forces....The executive board of the Hamburg Amerika Line (Hapag) met jointly
with the North German Lloyd Company board in Hamburg on Sept. 5, 1933. Under official Nazi
supervision, the two firms were merged. Prescott Bush's American Ship and Commerce Corp.
installed Christian J. Beck, a long-time Harriman executive, as manager of freight and
operations in North America for the new joint Nazi shipping lines (Hapag-Lloyd) on Nov. 4,
1933. According to testimony of officials of the companies before Congress in 1934, a
supervisor from the Nazi Labor Front rode with every ship of the Harriman-Bush line;
employees of the New York offices were directly organized into the Nazi Labor Front
organization; Hamburg-Amerika provided free passage to individuals going abroad for Nazi
propaganda purposes; and the line subsidized pro-Nazi newspapers in the U.S.A., as it had
done in Germany against the constitutional German government....Two months before moving
against Prescott Bush's Union Banking Corporation, the U. S. government ordered the
seizure of all property of the Hamburg-Amerika Line and North German Lloyd, under the
Trading with the Enemy Act..... For his part in the Hitler revolution, Prescott Bush was
paid a fortune."
