Since September 11 NLPWessex has provided news and commentary on a number of 'interesting' matters regarding the 'war against terrorism' (WAT).
As extra US troops pile into Kuwait on 'exercise', and right on cue an Iraqi is held in the Phillipines on 'suspicion' of links to al-Qaeda, it is perhaps even more interesting to see some of the dubious circumstances surrounding the behaviour of the Bush administration in relation to WAT now being raised in the US Congress - as indicated in a speech to the House of Representatives (link below) made by Texan and Republican (yes, Republican) Congressman Ron Paul on 29 November.
In his speech Congressman Paul even refers to the new book - 'Bin Laden, The Forbidden Truth' - which explores the alarming relationship between the oil industry, the US government and Bin Laden.
With these matters now being raised directly in Congress just how much longer can the White House oil-military-drugs act keep its bogus WAT show on the road?
Congressman Paul's immediate concern, however, is the now proposed escalation of WAT into a fresh conflict with Iraq. Cheney was
Bush's Defense Secretary while Bush Sr. covertly armed and funded
Hussein's military right up to the Kuwaiti invasion in August
1990, eventually leaving the American taxpayers holding $2
Billion in defaulted Iraqi debt. Was Cheney simply 'out of the
loop' or asleep at the wheel? Or something worse?... Prior to the
invasion, Kuwait had been slant drilling at the Iraq-Kuwait
border into Iraq's oil, with equipment from National Security
Advisor Brent Scowcroft's former company. Bush's ambassador to
Iraq, April Glaspie, told Hussein that the US 'took no position'
on Iraq's dispute with Kuwait. Five Days later, Iraq invaded.
Then Bush ramped up Operation Desert Shield. During this phase
Bush refused any offers from Hussein to withdraw and save face.
The result was full-scale war -- Desert Storm....
[According to investigative journalist John Connelly:] 'After a
six month investigation, in the course of which we spoke to more
than 300 people, we believe we know what the [Wackenhut] truck
did contain-equipment necessary for the manufacture of chemical
weapons-and where it was headed [in the Winter of 1990]: to
Saddam Hussein's Iraq. And the Wackenhut Corporation -- a
publicly traded company with strong ties to the CIA and federal contracts
worth $200 million a year -- was making sure Saddam would be
getting his equipment intact.'....George Wackenhut is a long-time
friend of George Bush Sr., and he has
contributed generously to the campaigns of George
Sr., George W. and especially his state's
governor -- Jeb Bush. "

allow the agency to use Wackenhut offices throughout the
world as fronts for CIA activities. Kichard Babayan, who
says he was a CIA contract employee and is currently in
jail awaiting trial on fraud and racketeering charges, has
been cooperating with federal and congressional investigators
looking into illegal shipments of
nuclear-and-chemical-weapons- making supplies to Iraq.
'Wackenhut has been
used by the CIA and other intelligence agencies for years,' he
told SPY. 'When they [the CIA] need cover, Wackenhut
is there to provide it for them.'"
