Moon dial

A standard sundial will read 'moontime' correctly on a full moon only. Simply read 12 noon as 12 midnight. For every day before or after a full moon the dial will be incorrect by 48 minutes. Effectively the moon dial will 'lose' 48 minutes for each day after a full moon and will be similarly 'fast' for each day before a full moon.

The adjustements required for a 'moon dial' are shown below.

For days prior to a full moon you will need to add the adjustement from the indicated time and for days after you will need to subtract by the adjustement shown.
