CHAMBERS PHOTOS

03. CHAMBERS
family around 1887- possibly at Normanton on the Wolds, Nr. Plumtree,
Nottinghamshire.
The house on
the left is in fact 2 dwellings. The left half - as you're looking at them -
was the home of the Chambers family - all 14 of them ! It was a typical 2 up 2
down with a cellar - which is where the boys slept… The buildings are still
there today, but they look much, much different than they did at the time this
photograph was taken - which was around the turn of the 20th
century. The large building next to these dwellings, is in fact a chapel, but
today it is an absolutely splendid private house.
This is
where William CHAMBERS & Martha DRAPER got married on the 1st
February 1785.
Some of
their children were baptised here too.

It is a
beautiful church – very small but exquisite.
