The negative to this photograph was found amongst some old papers.
It was scanned and then converted to positive.
The "grey" surround is a red-coloured sort of paint which had been put on the negative.
I was very reluctant to try and remove it.
You will see the date - 29th January 1872 - is actually on the photograph.
I would appreciate any help in trying to identify anything at all to do with this photograph .
