GRANDMA'S BOOKS

My grandma, Florence Emily ROWNTREE (1880-1961)
was born in Earswick, near York, England.
She was the daughter of farmer/market gardener,
John ROWNTREE and Mary Ann DOUGHTY.
For her 21st birthday Florence was given an
Autograph Album and a Birthday Book. These two books, between them, contain
over 100 names.
Of course the names in the birthday book show
the person's birthday, but they don't all contain the actual year. There are
dates alongside the entries in the autograph album.
Although Florence was a Yorkshire Lass, it does
NOT mean that these names are necessarily Yorkshire, they could have been from
anywhere.
What I would like to ask is this - How many of
you, at the age of 21 and coming from a hamlet such as Earswick, which was
little more than just a few houses, could fill a birthday book with over 100
names?
