LEICESTER
Mr. H. C. GORDON, Supervisory Foreman, aged 47, who passed away suddenly on January 25.
Mr. F. C. HARRINGTON, Clerk, who passed away on February 4, after a long illness. Mr. HARRINGTON was 59 years of age and was due for retirement on March 19 next.
LICHFIELD (T.V.)
Mr. F. N. MIDDLETON, a well-know figure in Lichfield, Stafford and Nuneaton railway circles. Mr. MIDDLETON, who was District Secretary of the L.M.S. Hospital Fund for many years, had been in ill-health since his retirement from the position of Relief Signalman.
LUFFENHAM
Mr. Mark SPENCER, who passed away recently, aged 64. Mr. SPENCER had been at Luffenham for 50 yrs.
MANCHESTER
Mr. James RAFFERTY, Examiner, Carriage and Wagon Dept., Manchester Exchange, aged 63 years, who passed away on January 17. Mr. RAFFERTY had been employed on the Company for 48 years.
MANNINGHAM
Mr. A. E. FIRTH, Engine Driver, who died on January 21 after a short illness.
NEWARK-ON-TRENT
Mr. J. L. BEE, who passed away recently aged 64. Prior to his retirement, Mr. BEE held the positions of Goods Clerk and Chief Clerk.
NOTTINGHAM
Mr. J. W. BUTTERWORTH, who passed away suddenly after a short illness on January 29, aged 57. "Jack BUTTERWORTH" was a well-known and respected member of the Goods Department Staff, having started his railway career there in 1899.
PETERBOROUGH
Mr. J. G. PESTELL, late Secretary, No. 4 Ambulance District, who passed away on January 12 after a long illness. His loss will be deeply felt by the whole of the Ambulance Movement in and around Peterborough.
ST. ROLLOX
Mr. George L. KERR, Chief Draughtsman, C.M.E. & E.E. Dept., who died on January 26. Mr. KERR commenced at St. Rollox in 1907 and spent most of his career in the Drawing Office.
Mr. George FERGUSON, late Foreman, Carriage Lifting Shop, who died on February 6. Mr. FERGUSON retired in 1931.
SHEFFIELD
Mr. E. WALKER, aged 55. Commencing at Sheffield in 1909, Mr. WALKER was subsequently transferred to Bamford as a Motorman, returning to Sheffield for family reasons in December last.
SOUTHILL
Mr. John SANDERS, aged 73. Mr. SANDERS worked at St. Pancras Goods Dept., for many years, later being transferred to Southill.
STAYTHORPE CROSSING
Mr. George FRANCIS, Crossing Keeper, aged 52, who passed away on January 10 after a long illness. Mr. FRANCIS worked at Newark and Southwell before transference to Staythorpe.
STOKE-ON-TRENT
Mr. J. H. CRADDOCK, Labourer, Engineer's Works, who passed away recently, aged 40.
Mr. Vernon PEPPER, who retired from the position of Slater October 1936, and passed away on December 27.
STONEBRIDGE PARK
Mr. F. DICKERSON, Clerk, C.M.E. & E.E. Dept., aged 50, who died on January 6 after a short illness. Mr. DICKERSON had been Magazine Agent and Secretary of the Recreation Club for some years. He joined the L.N.W.R. in 1915, and prior to this he was employed by the Contractors who built the Power House and Car Repair Shop at Stonebridge Park.
STONE
Mr. James (Jim) GREEN, who died on January 13. Mr. GREEN retired from the service in February, 1938.
TEMPLEPATRICK
Mr. Thomas ROSS, Platelayer, aged 63, who met with a fatal accident on January 21. Mr. ROSS entered the service in 1909.
TIPTON
Mr. H. J. PURSER, Forwarding Clerk, aged 53, who passed away on January 21. Mr. PURSER retired in May 1938, owing to ill health.
TREDEGAR
Mr. Thomas THOMAS, who retired from the position of Foreman in 1932, having served for 44 years.
TYLDESLEY
Mr. L. BATTERSBY, who passed away on January 9. Mr. BATTERSBY was a Clerk in Charge of the Passenger Station prior to retirement in 1922.
UXBRIDGE ROAD
Mr. S. J. PITTARD, late Engineer's Dept., who passed away on January 15, aged 94. Mr. PITTARD was the oldest member on the books of the Provident Pension Society.
WATFORD
Mr. E. G. KIRBY, Clerk, District Engineer's Staff Office, who died suddenly on February 6, aged 52. Mr. KIRBY was well-known in the district, and extremely popular with his colleagues.
WEST KENSINGTON
Mr. C. S. SOMERTON, Goods Clerk, who passed away on January 10, aged 59. Mr. SOMERTON had been in indifferent health for some time.
WESTON AND INGESTRE
Mr. G. W. DAVENPORT, Ganger, who passed away suddenly on January 4 at the early age of 48 years.
WOVERTON
Mr. Frank WHITE, C. & W. Dept., aged 45, who passed away suddenly on January 29.
