TWO MYSTERY PHOTOGRAPHS

These two photographs appeared in a very old photograph album. The person who owned this album at the time when I first saw these two photographs couldn't be certain just who they were - or even if they were the same person, aged by the years. One thing is certain, both these photographs belong to the DUNN family.

My grandmother, Lucy DUNN (1892-1956), had two sisters who both became nurses. Rhoda Ellen DUNN (1891-?) emigrated to America and Rose DUNN (1883-1970) emigrated to Australia.

I am told, by several elderly members of the family, that Rhoda Ellen DUNN helped give President Roosevelt his hydrotherapy for his polio treatment. Apparently during W.W.II, she sent food parcels back to England. She is also supposed to have sent newspaper clippings, showing photographs of her in a pool with the President. To date I have not been able to prove any of this, and I would dearly love to be able to do this. She did marry and have two children - all in America.

I'm hoping someone just might be able to recognize the uniforms. Also, could someone suggest reasons as to why the nurse on the right could be wearing bands around her lower arm - near her cuffs. Plus what were the reasons nurses wore medals - could it just be long service do you think - or because she was involved in a war? If the latter, where would I find out the answers - any ideas?

ALL IDEAS WOULD BE GRATEFULLY RECEIVED.
