I am researching early Scottish aviation.Preston Watson(flew in Dundee 1903) was a friend of William Hope Pilcher(Rosamunde's father-in-law).William was born in Snaigow, Perthshire 1884.I am looking for his connection with Percy Sinclair. William's father was Robert Hope Pilcher and I believe was born in Kent(Possibly Wyndham?).

May interest you to know that 'Eythorne' - the original farm of the Pilchers moving to Australia has been sold at the end of last yr - sad to loose it from the family but Arthur Pilcher had become to frial to continue working in the North Queensland heat. Jack Pilcher (my grandfather) still runs cattle and grows smallcrops and lucerne at Springfern - just downriver from the original farm and Kerry (his daughter) and her new husband Ricky hope to retire and move back to Springfern in the next couple of years to help out. Very dry at present (with most of the area drought declared) but monsoonal rain due soon. The Australian Pilchers had a reunion last year in Charters Towers with families from Noosa, Bowen and Townsville attending. Cheers, Scott

Sorry, I don't have any data to share with you. My boyfriend is a Pilcher, and has been trying to trace his genealogy for a while. He recently found out that the Pilchers originated from the UK. I was just wondering if you could give me any information to help him out or a good way to go about this search for the pieces to the jigsaw puzzle, as you put it. Thanks - Liz Wood

I regretfully do not have a lot of my family informaion. My father was John Edward Pilcher. My (in don't know how many "greats") grandfather came to the United States from England as a young boy on a sailing ship (don't know the date) and had only 50 cents in his pocket. Wish I'd listened to my parents when they were alive! I might be able to find a little more information if I dig for it.

I believe it was my great, great grandparents who arived in the USA in the 1700's from Wales. My greatgrand parents, Dempsey & Hattie Pilcher had seven children, one being my grandfather, Orval Charles Pilcher. We are having a cousins reunion this Friday. All of the cousins stem off from my Grandfather's siblings. Most of us live in Florida and Georgia, but one of grandpa's brothers settled in Iowa and we still have a group there. Thank you for your web site. Knowing we have "cousins" around the world seems to make the world a little smaller. :)

ggfather= Lewis PILCHER 1838-1897 gggfather=Louis/Lewis PILCHER born Sturry 1817 married 1838 to MaryAnn SUTTON (of Ash, Kent)at Canterbury, Kent Certificate held of B&M, so info. confirmed this far. ggggfather= George PILCHER b.1788 m. Sarah (Surnames Blackman AND! Carvill. Both marriages according to LDS were in 1811 so must be a blunder!) Traced line back to 1500s on LDS data base of Pilchers living mostly at Sturry, Fordwich & Lydden but not sure of facts because there were so many PILCHERS with the same Christian names

We have information that traces my husband's 9th great grandfather, also Richard Pilcher, to Wales in the 1600's and whose sons later came to England and/or France then to America. I will certainly come back to this site for further research.

Descended from Stephen Pilcher of Coldred / Colred, Kent, died 1523. Great-grandfather was Thomas Pilcher (m. Susanna Ridden) of Arpinge Farm, Paddlesworth, nr. Hythe and Newington and Folkestone. Great-grandfather was William Pilcher, and Grandfather was Franklin Preble Pilcher. FYI, I have heard that a Pilcher was the "clerk of the works" on the construction of Dover Castle. Have large database of East Kent Pilchers, and my own genealogy in a 150 page bound book. American Pilchers settled around Joliet and Plainfield, Illinois, in late 1850's.

I have been trying to locate the family of Donald Pilcher, who married Nellie Knowlden in Sittingbourne in 1948. Nellie's mother (Ida) was my mothers half-sister - though I don't think either of them knew of the others existence!! My mother is now in her 90th year and I would love to get hold of a picture of Ida to show my mum before it is too late!! Any help would be appreciated. Nellie and Donald hada son- Michael born 1949, Regards Sue

My maternal grandfather(George Christie)'s grandmother was Jemima Pilcher born 6th March 1831 in Mailtland NSW. Her parents, Henry Incledon Pilcher (solicitor) and his wife sailed to Australia from England in 1829 with 2 small children Eliza Sophia (1827) and Edward 1829 who died on route. The family subsequently had 7 more children . Their 4th son Francis, born in 1840 was christened in West Maitland. He studied in England and married Mary Alma Elliott in 1876. His son, Canon Charles Venn Pilcher (b1879) was consecrated Bishop Coadjutor of Sydney in 1936. My grandfather's grandmother( Jemima) married Rev Alan McIntyre in May 1862. They had 5 children. His mother was the eldest child Catherine Jemima Eliza (b25th March 1863)

I really enjoy your sight. I have been researching my Pilcher ancestors and only can get as far as the four brothers who came from Wales in the mid 1720's. If you have any information about Robert Pilcher (b. 1708) I would love to hear about it. Keep up the good work.
