Occultique was founded in 1973 and occupied premises at 73 Kettering Road, Northampton until February 1998 when it was felt that twenty-five years of sitting behind a counter was too much of a good thing. The name Occultique was invented by myself and curiously seems to have passed into modern day language. Over those years an enormous number of interesting and fascinating people passed through the shop most of whom will be sadly missed. The move to the present address and being only mail order has allowed more time for private study and a freer life style. It is hoped that people will still keep in personal contact, as it is always great when customers, old and new, get in touch. Drop a line with queries, interests and wants, or just a personal note. Perhaps the advantages of the Internet and e-mail will allow for at least correspondence to continue. Not having a shop means that people cannot examine goods so closely but we will always try and maintain as high a quality of goods as possible. Eventually many items will be illustrated on the Web and in the catalogue but that will take time. Many items are in limited supply, rare or made by individual craft persons so please be patient when ordering something that is just a little bit out of the ordinary. Most people realise this but in this high-tech instant society some people are naturally sometimes very anxious to get their goods - please remember every effort is being made to complete your order quickly. An enormous range of items are still stocked and it is unlikely that all of them will ever be listed so please do enquire if you require something not in the catalogue. The book catalogue alone contains only a small fraction of actual stock. There have been a lot of problems getting the website and catalogue production streamlined but no doubt all will be eventually organised and updated lists will become a more regular occurrence. Individual mini-lists can be done so if you have a particular topic of interest send an e-mail or letter with details. Apologies for not answering the phone very often, other commitments mean that orders and queries are usually dealt with at unsociable hours and that makes it difficult sometimes to ring people back. People are frequently not available anyway when rung phoned back. Leaving your address as well as your phone number helps enormously to get a quicker response. Over the last few years there have been some ongoing computer and administration problems.
