Ocean Discovery aims to provide programmed and tailormade sailing and kayaking adventure holidays to people with a desire to take part in something special. We endeavour to choose our locations to allow most people to participate, given some prior experience, or after training with us. An intrinsic part of our set up, therefore, is coaching and instruction (to governing body standards) and we feel it is part of the overall experience. With this in mind, our leaders and coaches are chosen because of their high levels of personal leadership, physical skills, enthusiasm and ability to communicate their ideas to the people who matter most-YOU. In Sept 2001 the director returned successfully from participating as a skipper sailing in Sir Robin Knox Johnston's "Times Clipper 2000" Round the World Race. This event covers 35,000 nm, lasts 11 months and focuses on teamwork, turning amateur crews into skilled ocean racers. Previous experience: Skipper of 60 foot racing yacht "London Clipper" leading an amateur team of sailors around the world as part of Sir Robin Knox Johnston's "Times Clipper 2000" race. Final race position: 3rd Leader of Sea kayaking expeditions to Alaska, Chile, Scotland and Wales. 6 years working at the Welsh National Centre for Watersports coaching and leading groups in numerous disciplines. ARC race on "Maiden of Great Britain" (Tracy Edward's ex-Whitbread yacht) / Rourke series in Caribbean on Beneteau 51 / Charter skipper around the British Virgin Islands. 1998 medical expedition to base camp of Kangchenjunga, Nepal.
