Bareboat Charter /  Skippered Charter - Yacht Details

Bareboat / Skippered Charter:

Mistral is a US built Santana 39, designed by Gary Mull and Shad Turner and built by W D Shock of California. Like many U.S. boats, she has a traditional and homely interior layout based on a semi open plan accommodation with lots of wood and white paintwork instead of the plastic interiors that are associated with most European boats. She was hand built and is one of only seven that were made – all seven were built with strength and comfort in mind and with a ballast ratio of 37% she is as well suited to offshore sailing as she is to hopping around Anglesey and the Irish Sea . Performance wise she rates well at 0.916 with white sails and a spinnaker – similar to Swan 38’s of a similar age.

Mistral’s accommodation consists of a large V – berth in the fore cabin with vanity unit and drawers (suitable for two singles or a couple), two larger quarter berths to the rear of the boat, and up to four berths in the saloon comprising of a double on the port side and a single plus pilot berth on the starboard. The heads is mounted on the port side, and opposite this is a large wet locker and sail store for the spinnaker. The galley is to port whilst the navigation station and large fridge are to starboard.

Saloon on Mistral

Mistral comes with a tender, plus all the safety equipment requires to ensure that she fully complies with the MCA code of practice for charter vessels. This includes items such as liferaft, flares, first aid, kits, fire extinguishers, lifejackets (all manual inflation type with integral harness) etc.

She has a full portfolio of both Admiralty and Imray charts for North Wales , together with all the necessary pilot books, tide tables and Almanacs. She has a furling genoa and slab-reefing mainsail, together with a spinnaker. Most lines are lead to the cockpit, which has a forward steering position (wheel).

Her navigational equipment includes GPS unit and Furuno radar, together with ST60 wind, speed and depth that was added in 2004. Fixed and handheld VHF units are included, together with CD unit and stereo. All of the electrical gear is powered by four separate battery banks, which in turn charged by twin alternator systems on the engine.

Deck gear includes Anderson , Enkes and Barient winches, complimented by an electric windlass with its own battery system and full chain rode.
