Genesis and History
The Old Ilminsterians Association was formed in 1932 with its first President being Mr L.H.Mermagan, Headmaster at the time.

Current form of The Association
The membership nowadays is comprised of a mailing list. There is no longer a membership fee and the Association's expenses are covered by donation and a prize draw run during the Annual Dinner. Those on the mailing list receive notification of the programme for the annual re-union day.
In the morning of the re-union day there is a Church Service at St.Mary's in Ilminster.
Around mid-day, Old Ilminsterians gather at the Shrubbery Hotel in Ilminster where there is a buffet lunch (and very adequate parking). This is the part of the day when individual re-unions proper get under way. These last well into the afternoon, usually with more people attending. Partners are welcome, and there are a few Old Boys who attend only the lunch or the dinner.
An Annual General Meeting normally precedes the Annual Dinner and formalises membership of the comittee and covers the difficult topic of members who have passed away.
The Annual Dinner although following the time honoured format of the Old Ilminsterians Dinner is nowadays less formal. In 2001, the after-dinner speaker was an Old Ilminsterian who employed video as his visual aid and gave an interesting presentation on his life's work. (Your webmaster also noticed more than one at the dinner who, although tidily dressed, did not wear ties - it is being there that matters !)
Memorabilia
Collectively, Old Ilminsterians hold a significant amount of memorabilia. This includes those yearly (?) panoramic photos of the pupils. A display board is usually set up at the Shrubbery on the re-union day.
