The New
Logbook
Following discussions between, the RCOphth, the Ophthalmic Trainee's
Group, David Wong and Bill Newman, it has been agreed to change the format of
the surgical logbook software.
The College will specify the minimum data set that needs to be recorded and the manner in which it must be presented
Trainee's may use whatever software they wish
A spreadsheet version of the logbook provided by Mr Wong is now available
The previous version of the logbook (CD V1.0) may still be used
Why do we need a new surgical
logbook?
1.
To comply with Data Protection Act. The old logbook contained
patients’ names and operations etc.
2.
The current curriculum requires a record of attendance at Special
Clinics.
3.
The current curriculum requires a continuous audit of cataract
complications.
What does the College Training Committee require as evidence of training?
This is summarised ion the College
Requirement page.
You may find the "How
To Do It Version 1.0" page useful in printing the information from your logbook.
The help files for version 2.0 are found as part of the logbook download in the form of
a pdf file.
I am having trouble using
the logbook, where can I get some help?
There are solutions to most problems can be found on the FAQ
- v1.0 logbook page.
A copy of the College Requirements, How To Do It, and FAQ's (for v1.0 logbook) can be downloaded in Acrobat (pdf) format here.
