LUNATIC, JUNKIE, POET OR GENIUS?

 

 

Aleister Crowley may have proclaimed his now famous doctrine “Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be the Whole of the Law”, but there are other little know statements he made that show originally he had more of a Pagan outlook:

 

" The Magician must build all that he has into his pyramid, if that pyramid is to touch the Stars, how broad must be the base!"

 

 “The time is just ripe for a nature religion, insist on the real benefits of the sun, the Mother-Force, the Father-Force and so on; and show that by celebrating these benefits the worshippers unite themselves more fully with the current of life. Let the religion of joy, with but a worthy and dignified sorrow in gloss over facts, but transmute them in the Anthenor of your ecstasy. I short be the founder of a new greater Pagan cult.

As you go on you can add new festivals of corn and wine, and all things useful and noble and inspiring”.

 

These words ring as true today as they did a hundred years ago, So spread the word :-)

 

“The word of a Magus is ALWAYS a falsehood. For it is a creative word; there would be no object in uttering it, if it merely stated an existing fact in Nature. The task of a Magus is to make his word, the expression of his will, come true. It is the most formidable labour that the mind can conceive”.

 

It was a meeting with MacGregor of the Golden Dawn that set the seed for Crowley to launch into Magick. MacGregor had got most of his ideas from the book of the Sacred Magic of Abra-Melin the Mage.  This is the Jewish connection we have been left with, in Wicca today. But this kind of Jewish magic was not the magic our Ancestors knew and mastered so well. So what of that magic?

 

The O.T.O. (Ordo Templi Orientis), this really meant the penis. just as the retort or the cucurbite/ vagina, and Serpent / blood of the red lion / semen. Sex magic played a big part in Crowleys Rites, not for the faint hearted. Some would say he over did it to foreful his own desires, which did harm some I expect? The Harm none bit was needed for sure.

We all start off with the best of intensions but somewhere down the Path the original ideas sometimes are lost, and most go for the easy life, they then follow like sheep.

 

 

Who are the new big names in Wicca going to be as we head into this new millennium? Lets hope the new order is more respectful and keeps the origins of the Craft in mind, Our Ancestors will be proud of us if we can do that, and they would recognize why and what we do in our seasonal Rites.   Blessed Be
