This is the trading name of my employee-counselling business. In collaboration with several others, we supply counselling to company employees, as well as consultancy and training to the employer. Recent court decisions have demonstrated that, in the context of work situations, an employer's duty of care for employees extends beyond a responsibility for their physical welfare, to include the employees' emotional welfare (e.g. alleviating anxiety and stress). By offering employees the opportunity to resolve some of their issues through counselling, an employer can more easily demonstrate that their duty of care has been satisfied. A significant part of drawing the counselling to a close is appropriate referral, should such be required. The consultancy aspect of the work includes regular telephone support, and counselling supervision of staff counsellors. The training side of the work includes stress management workshops, and team-building events. ACT & Associates has space available to negotiate more contracts.
