Cinema & Movies: Australia

[Under development: 8 February 2005]

Director Peter Weir is Australian, but are his movies Australian? Whilst Picnic at Hanging Rock has a European, rather than Hollywood, feel, the same cannot be said of The Truman Show. Witness is one of my favourite movies, partly because of the musical score, but also because of the juxtaposition of two opposing ethical/religious lifestyles.

I recall watching Walkabout (Director: Nicholas Roeg) on television as a teenager, and felt the impact of what I term its ‘expressionist’ qualities.
