You are welcome to ferret around my web pages. I add to and update these pages occasionally.
I have several reasons for presenting these pages:
to let people with whom I am in loose contact know how I,
and the people close to me, are doing;
to make specialist contact with specific categories of
people (e.g people interested in counselling training, and regarding children
with disabilities);
to act as a resource (e.g documents about courses that I teach; details of vegan/vegetarian
restaurants in various cities), because part of me enjoys campaigning for what
I believe in;
to show off my skills (or in your view, maybe, my lack of
them) by showing what I can do with a web-site;
as a counsellor, counselling supervisor and counselling
trainer, to model the upper left (open) quadrant of Jo-Hari's Window.
Necessarily, therefore, nothing here is too private, otherwise I would not have
put it in the public domain.
This is a text-rich website in which there are few photographs. I am keen to hear from you, even if it is just to tell me your name and where you are from. Click here to view my guest book, or else click here to sign it. Alternatively, you can visit my weblog, which is a kind of online journal and scrapbook and does include photographs. My e-mail address is: p.g.h@btinternet.com

Several years ago, Anne Hughes, second wife of my late father, bought several woods in eastern Cornwall, on the edge of Bodmin Moor. "The purchase of these woodlands was heartfelt rather than a rational decision. The woods mean a lot to me on a personal level, as I'm sure they do to many other people, and I wished to avoid their [merely] commercial exploitation. Instead I wish to see them protected and appropriately managed for the benefit of the trees, the wildlife and the local community. The proposed management of the woods will seek to be ecological and educational, while enhancing the natural beauty, enabling the local community (and visitors) to understand, appreciate and enjoy the woodlands." (Anne Hughes, 2003).

My eighteen year old daughter, Jemima, spent the first three months of her life in intensive and special care. She is profoundly deaf, and is quadriplegically disabled with cerebral palsy. I should like to be in touch with other parents of multiply disabled children, particularly, although not exclusively, regarding Jemima's combination of disabilities. She has written some text that is uploaded to the family weblog Sound Signs. The BBC has involved us in making two short movies about Jemima and her Dynavox communication aid, for the on-line Video Nation project. These movies can be found online at: Video Nation - Tyne: Jemima - A Power-full Voice, and Video Nation - Tyne: Jemima's Cool Yule

I am interested in cinema, video, photography, and have eclectic tastes in music, poetry and fine art. I derive considerable pleasure from visiting museums, galleries and sculpture parks.
I collect picture postcards, and display them in my real world spaces. Mostly the postcards are of places around the world, but I also have some of fine art. Should you be so kind as to send me a picture postcard (address obtainable in my signature if you send me an e-mail first), and include your address, I should be courteous enough to send you a picture postcard in return.
