Just before Easter 1999, I flew with my wife and daughter from Birmingham to Barcelona. We saw much evidence of the work of Antoni Gaudi (Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, La Casa Mila nicknamed La Pedrera). We visited the Picasso museum, which was a disappointment, more suited to students of Picasso's work than to tourists; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, which is housed in a stunning modern building, but houses a feeble collection of works. We enjoyed the pleasant ambience of the city. More about all of this in due course.
We found several vegetarian restaurants, where it was also possible to obtain vegan food, albeit with varying degrees of confidence.
Disability awareness was high, and some parts of the transport system are negotiable alone by wheelchair users.
