Travel and Places: Ontario
[Under development 18 July 2006]

2004
We flew into Ottawa airport,
staying in an hotel for two nights. Visited
my aunt and uncle, my cousins and their families. My aunt died shortly
after our subsequent return to the UK.
It was so good to have spent those few days with her.
1995
We flew into Toronto airport and
stayed in a motel in Etobicoke while exploring the
city. Loved Toronto Islands and
the trams (street cars). Found a couple of vegetarian restaurants. Visted the Ontario Parliament Building and
the National Art Gallery of Ontario. Hired a car and visited Niagara falls for the day (unmissable), and drove back to Toronto
via Niagara-on-the-Lake (pleasant). Drove up to Ottawa to stay
with family in Nepean. From there, we headed for Montreal
(see Quebec). When we returned to
Ontario, it was via Cornwall.
We spent an afternoon and a morning at Upper Canada
Village (which is excellent), and
drove rapidly up-river for last Thousand Islands
boat-trip of the day. Kingston was
rather uninspiring, but then we drove up towards Peterborough
to see the Serpent Mounds. Appetite whetted for more historical contact with
indigenous people, we drove up to Midland
to visit the reconstructed Huron village, and also Sainte Marie amongst the Hurons.
1993
Visited the Canadian Parliament building, and the
national park just over the border in Quebec
Province.
