chick pea dahl

preparation & cooking time: 25 minutes

chick peas (cooked or canned), 300g
onion, x2
garlic, 4 cloves
peppers, x3
tomatoes, 2 cans
vegetable stock cube
ground black pepper
grouind cumin
grouind turmeric
ground ginger
ground coriander root
vegetable oil for frying

serves 4

  1. Put the chick peas, tomatoes and the stock cube in a microwave-safe dish
  2. Microwave the chick peas on 'full' for 5 minutes, then simmer for 5 minutes
  3. Clean, deseed and finely slice the peppers
  4. Peel and finely chop the onion and cloves of garlic
  5. Heat some vegetable oil in a frying pan
  6. Fry the peppers, onions and garlic until golden brown
  7. Add all the ground spices to the vegetables and continuie to fry for a further few minutes
  8. Add the fried vegetables and spices to the chick peas
  9. Microwave the chick peas on 'simmer' for a further 5 minutes

lentil dahl (1)

preparation & cooking time: 30 minutes

red lentils, 300g
onion, x1
garlic, 4 cloves
peppers, x3
coconut milk, 1 can
vegetable stock cube
ground black pepper
grouind asafoetida
grouind fenugreek
ground ginger
ground coriander root
vegetable oil for frying

serves 3

  1. Wash and clean the lentils
  2. Put the lentils in a microwave-safe dish, along with 500 ml of boiling water
  3. Microwave the lentils on 'simmer' for 5 minutes, then stir thoroughly, Repeat.
  4. Pour the cocnut milk onto the lentils and add the stock cube
  5. Microwave the lentils on 'simmer' for 10 minutes
  6. Clean, deseed and finely slice the peppers
  7. Peel and finely chop the onion and cloves of garlic
  8. Heat some vegetable oil in a frying pan
  9. Fry the peppers, onions and garlic until golden brown
  10. Add to the vegetables all the ground spices and continuie to fry for a further few minutes

  12. Microwave the lentils on 'simmer' for a further 5 minutes

preparation & cooking time: 35 minutes

red lentils, 200g
green lentils, 200g
onion, x2
garlic, 4 cloves
peppers, x3
tomatoes, 2 cans
vegetable stock cube
ground black pepper
grouind cumin
grouind turmeric
ground ginger
ground coriander root
vegetable oil for frying

serves 4

  1. Wash and clean the lentils

  3. Microwave the lentils on 'simmer' for 5 minutes, then stir thoroughly, Repeat. Repeat..
  4. Add the tomatoes and the stock cube to the lentils
  5. Microwave the lentils on 'simmer' for 10 minutes
  6. Clean, deseed and finely slice the peppers
  7. Peel and finely chop the onion and cloves of garlic
  8. Heat some vegetable oil in a frying pan
  9. Fry the peppers, onions and garlic until golden brown
  10. Add to the vegetables all the ground spices and continuie to fry for a further few minutes
