Selection criteria: Male & Female - 17+ yrs - drug free 24 hours on admission - couples & pregnant women accepted - people with a history of violence, sexual offences or serious mental illness may be refused admission following risk assessment - children cannot be accommodated but may visit.

Treatment Fees: Contact the project for current charges - the local authority assesses the client's income & asks her/him to contribute to the charge, leaving allowance for personal expenses.

Selection criteria: Male & female - 18-30 yrs - drug free on arrival except where residents complete the last 20 ml of a methadone detox over the first ten days of their stay - couples accepted - accepts users of most drugs but not primarily alcohol or solvents - the needs of people with a history of violence or who require specialist psychiatric treatment cannot be met - no pets.

Treatment Fees: ~£240 per week - usually local authority care managers fund just over half, and the rest is made up by DSS & residents benefit - telephone to discuss options.

Selection criteria: Male & female - 16+ yrs - couples not usually accepted but referrals considered - pregnant women accepted - people with mental health problems accepted - prescribed medicine permitted - full detoxification service provided - inappropriate clients include those with current problems of violent behaviour - no children - no pets.

Treatment Fees: £218-320 per day.

Selection criteria: Crisis service for men & women aged 18+ - resident with Greater London & unemployed - Couples & parents with children between 3-54 months accepted - detoxification service for individuals with funding for longer term treatment - cannot take clients with mental health problems requiring a high degree of specialist care - does not take people whose drug of choice is solvents or alcohol - no pets.

Treatment Fees: Depends on the particular financial arrangement between City Roads & the London Borough - charges met by the local authority and the DSS.

Selection criteria: Male & female - 18+ yrs - drug & alcohol free - clients with a history of violence, arson, sexual offences or a history of psychiatric illness may be considered - no couples or children - does not accept pregnant women - no pets.

Treatment Fees: ~£340 per week less any benefit the client is entitled to.

Treatment Fees: Funded by housing benefit - ~£98 per week.

Selection criteria: Women only - 18-50 yrs - 24 hours drug free on entry - children up to 12 accepted - pregnant women accepted - priority to women from black & minority ethnic groups - does not accept misusers of solvents, unless part of polydrug use - does not accept people with a history of sexual offences, violence or arson - no couples - no pets.

Selection criteria: Male & female - 17+ yrs - pregnant women accepted - for detoxified drug users aiming to remain drug free - clients are predominately crack/opiate or polydrug users - priority to women & black clients - applicants with persistent and/or recent histories of violence, arson or sex related offences or serious mental health problems may not be considered appropriate but each case will be assessed - no couples - no pets - no children, but overnight stays & visits can be arranged.

Selection criteria: Male & female - 18+ yrs - must be fully detoxed before admission - pregnant women accepted -accepts people with any combination of drug use except alcohol only - people with a history of violence, sexual offences or serious mental illness may be refused admission following assessment - couples not accepted - children cannot be accommodated but may visit - no pets.

Treatment Fees: ~£320 for London local authorities, ~£365 out of London - local authority assesses client's income and asks them to contribute to the charge.

Selection criteria: Male & female - 17+ yrs - must be drug free for 24 hours on admission - priority given to women & minority groups - does not accept people with diagnosed mental health problems - cannot accept those with recent sexual offences or arson.

Treatment Fees: ~£350 per week at Willow Lodge & £325 at Gate House - part of resident's DSS allowance contributes.

Selection criteria: Male & female - 17+ yrs - must have completed a first stage residential programme of at least two months duration and be drug free for at least 4 weeks.

Treatment Fees: Residents do not need local authority funding - residents claim DSS benefits & rent is paid through housing benefit.

Selection criteria: Unsupported parents with one child under 5 - can be admitted in final 2 weeks of a methadone programme - drug use may have included most drugs but not primarily solvents or alcohol - the needs of people with a history of violence or who require specialist psychiatric treatment cannot be met - no pets.

Nascent House

Selection criteria: Male & Female (18+yrs) - must be drug free on entry - cannot accept people with a history of violence, arson or sexual offences or people with serious mental illness - couples not accepted - children not accepted - pregnant women not accepted - no pets unless in exceptional circumstances - referrals accepted from any source including the client.

Treatment Fees: £264.30 per week for residents from Hertfordshire & £334.30 for residents from outside Hertfordshire.

Services: A statutory agency offering advice, information & support for people experiencing problems related to their use of drugs or alcohol. In and out-patient detoxification (GP referral necessary) also available.

Services: For people experiencing problems due to their use of drugs (Legal & illegal). Needle exchange, drop-in, advice & information. Druglink also operates Nascent House (See detoxification & rehabilitation centres).

Services: Community based day service for where people can drop-in for information, advice & help with any aspect of an alcohol, drug or solvent problem. The service offers confidential counselling, relapse prevention, and group work tailored to the specific needs of individuals, their families & friends.

Services: They deal with any addiction problem: alcohol, drugs, prescription drugs, gambling, eating disorders. One to one counselling, group therapy, a drop-in, aromatherapy, acupuncture & there's also a 24 hour helpline. In addition to the day services, Vale House runs a residential rehabilitation home, and is hoping to open a detox centre soon. You can refer yourself or be referred by a GP or other agency.

Cranstoun House

Selection criteria: Male & Female - 18+ yrs - Drug free prior admission - People with a history of violence or sexual offences or people with serious mental illness may be refused admission following assessment.

Treatment Fees: £319 for London local authorities, £364 out of London. The local authority assesses the client's income and asks them to contribute to the charge.

Selection criteria: Male & Female - Pregnant women accepted (but no children) - Will treat all addiction - No pets - accepts anyone appropriate after assessment if they can meet the fees.

Treatment Fees: £1,379 per week. Full amount must be paid.

Selection criteria: Male & Female - 16-25yrs - Do not have to be drug free, but must show commitment to treatment - couples accepted - Detox unit could take a pregnant woman or parent & baby - No pets - Detoxification over three weeks for methadone, heroin & alcohol-only dependency in one person unit.

Treatment Fees: £360 per week. Residents are not expected to meet the costs themselves unless they are employed, in which case a contribution is requested.

Selection criteria: Male & Female - Need to be drug free on entry - No couples - No pets - No Children.

Treatment Fees: Detoxification £850 for initial 5 day stay, then £134.50 per day. Residential programme & family programme £938 per week including detox. Day programme £540 per week. Family programme £10 per session, outpatient counselling £25 per session.
