- In 1871 census return the name was spelt Benistone. In 1881 census return William was at his nephew William Holmes`s house in Heanor speltBenniston.

He and his wife Eliza were interred in Stanton Road cemetery Ilkestongrave no 262.
Large upright stone memorial reads `In loving memory of Eliza Beniston who died April 23rd 1885 aged 63 years. Return unto your rest O mysoul for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with Thee. William Benistonhusband of the above who died May 16th 1891 aged 72 years. The Lord delighteth in mercy.`
Right bottom corner of stone engraved `Millar Chapel St`. (1901 census John Millar age 46 monumental mason).
