I'm a wildlife rehabilitator from Columbus, Ohio and I have raised a goodly amount of orphaned waterfowl and have
treated an even larger number of adults over the last 6 years. I use the feathersite webpage for identification
purposes of the incidental domestic breeds that wind up in the clinic that have either escaped from farms and
gotten intotrouble or were dumped at the rivers and metro parks for whatever reason and have encountered bad luck
as a result. I really enjoy your site and have found it very helpful.

We have just been given a pair of lovely ducks. We have been told that they are called"Apricot calling ducks" - could this be correct? Are you able to suggest any magazines, books,or any publication that could assist us,to ensure we keep these pair in good order?we have managed to get some layers pellets for them, but that is about all we know about them.We have been to our local library, but all they have are two books written about 20 years ago,so any help or suggestions you may have will be greatly received.
We have today just had our first duck egg.
Your assistance in this matter is very much appreciated.

I would like to know where I could buy a pair of Ringed Teal ducklings. I live in the midlands and, therefore would like to know our nearest breeder. I have recently lost 3 Aylesbury ducks to the foxes and would like to get some new ducks quite quickly as the children miss them.

Hi there, I am trying to identify a duck I recently saw in Minorca. I have narrowed it down to a White Cheecked Pintal (Anus bahamensis bahamensis) but would like to ascertain the wing pattern of this bird. Could you assist?
Does the bird have a green speculum with a pale beige/brown bar?
Hope you may be able to assist or could direct me to a suitable website.
Thanks Vic

Love your ducks. Very pretty. I would love to get a pair. Could you offer me any advice - where to get them, could I hatch them, what size of garden, what size of pond, would cats harm them etc. I would greatly appreciate any information.
Thank You.

You have a beautiful website. I wonder if you can answer a question for me? I have a 800 sq ft duck pen with 26 ducks and pheasants. Wood Ducks, Green Wing, Cinamin, and Ringed Teal, Northern Pintails, Mandarins, Mergansers,Red Heads, Golden and Ring Neck Pheasants. Its a great hobbie for myself, my wife and children.
Every evening just at dusk the ducks go a little nuts. They take turns flying around the pen, the buzz over eachothers heads, they get a little noisy, and they splash around and seem to be playing. Every night we go out and watch at dusk. Any idea why they do this at dusk? I've asked several breeders and propagators, and no one has a clue. Most say their ducks don't act like this. If you have any ideas why they do this I would love to hear them. Thank You
