Preston

The Preston weekend is similar to Rotherham, but gives a different set of opportunities. This year's highlights included buying three pairs of strappy sandals from a 'closing down sale' in Blackpool for the princessly sum of  £9, and the delicious experience of having a fantastic lunch at a Michelin 1-star restaurant as an elegant Pamela, with a spectacular view over the Lake District.

If one's going out to a really 'posh' establishment, then it's vital to be dressed appropriately, don't you think?

In this case a lovely 'old' M&S suit matched with some nice tight knee boots. The meal was delicious and the staff really great. (There we three of us - my partner, our friend Lena and myself - you don't wish to enquire what the bill for lunch was, but it was worth every penny, or pound)

At the 'gala night' it was time to dress in something special, in this case a dress design that was actually Vogue 1947, but this a black-and-white antisymmetry that is something of a hallmark for Pamela.

We had a nice drive to this lunch date - stopping by Coniston to get some nice photographs.
