Introduction
The Paragon International Collectors
Club was established at the end of 1997. It was
founded by Stefanie Austin with the aim of bringing
together collectors to provide a forum for the ready
interchange of information and to a foster an enhanced
general awareness of Paragon china.
Paragon manufactured a wide range
of china products and all the current members are
avid collectors of at least one type. Some are interested
in the tableware of the pre1920 Star China Company
period while others prefer the Art Deco designs
of the '20s and '30s. The figurines produced from
the late '40s to the early '60s have their devotees
while other enthusiasts confine their interests
to the Paragon commemorative designs.
However, all members are united
in one respect. Every one firmly believes that,
despite royal patronage and the fact that many of
the designs easily surpass, in both artistic merit
and execution, other more collectable china of the
first half of the 20th century, Paragon china has
not yet received the recognition it justly deserves.
It
is well known that Paragon has enthusiasts in
the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan
so, though based in the UK, membership is open
to collectors worldwide. Currently, subscribing
members enjoy free entry to Club meetings, access
to an e-mail news/discussion group and an online 'trading post', a Club Journal
and Newsletters. These contain news, articles and many useful facts
not available elsewhere in print. For instance,
much of the new information about Paragon, that
researchers are continually bringing to light,
appears nowhere else and is, to date, exclusive
to Club members.
