Damaging Actions
Britain's Farmers seem to have finally taken leave of their senses in attempting to interfere with Britain's sea and airports during a war situation.
The ports are busy enough with anti-terrorist controls without having their attention diverted by this nonsense.
Sick Industry
The UK is riddled with animal disease - BSE (Mad Cow), Swine Fever and finally Foot and Mouth.
Rabble Rousers
Last year dissident farmers and their allies tried to close the road access to Felixstowe and were only stopped by the prompt action of the police. Successful prosecutions followed.
A Dead Countryside
Four million pigs, sheep, cattle and goats have been killed in a failed attempt to control Foot and Mouth.
A Pilfered Treasury
Billions of Pounds of taxpayer money have been spent this year alone on the costs and compensation.
Divided Interests
The countryside is in an uproar with bitter disputes between farming and other industries and groups.
Missing Visitors
Britain's tourist industry was in serious trouble because of foot and mouth restrictions even before the terrorist attacks on the United States.
Facing the Music
Dozens of inquiries are under way now. Massive sums of taxpayer's money are missing, with allegations of widespread fraud.
Removed from Authority
Britain's Ministry of Agriculture has been disbanded in disgrace.
Unfair Competition
The farmer's representatives have been determined, for obvious commercial reasons, to block imports of meat.
Lack of Evidence
They repeatedly claim, despite having no supporting evidence, that all these diseases have been the result of illegal meat imports passing through Britain's ports and airports.
Lies and more Lies
A constant stream of anti-foreign propaganda - much of it highly inflammatory and illegal, has supported this campaign.
Interfering with the Seaports
Now there are deliberate attempts again to spread the chaos in the countryside to Britain's seaports.
Wrong Again
But the farmers' leaders have made yet another miscalculation in attempting to divert attention from their own shortcomings.
Sad Stories
A few months back, someone, almost certainly within the now disbanded Ministry of Agriculture, concocted a story about infected South African "bush meat" being smuggled by sea into Newcastle on Tyne and sold to Chinese Restaurants in the city.
"Expert" Opinion
The writer was asked to comment on this quite obvious and odious fabrication, by the investigating TV journalist.
The Voice of Reason
When, it became clear that the journalist was determined to run the story, the writer stayed up most of the night contacting more responsible departments of government.
Unreliable Source
Although the story was published, it appeared in a less virulent and xenophobic form, perhaps as a result of the writer's efforts.
Never the less, it was taken up by the farmers as "evidence" that they were the victims of foreign involvement.
Correcting the Record
Two Cabinet Ministers had to apologise to the Chinese community, who have already received the first financial compensation for business lost through this racist nonsense. see Report
Reaction Awaited
Hutchinson Ports have yet to comment on this latest unpatriotic and dangerous activity by the farmers.
Dropped Clanger?
Will someone please explain to National Farmers Union who Hutchison are?
Very slowly, I suggest. They have a habit of getting things wrong.
I've added a link Hutchison so that they can find out for themselves.
With a war to cope with, plus EU proposals for changes to the port industry opposed by both owners and workforce, it is a safe bet that Hutchinson will be a little less than enthusiastic towards the NFU's latest escapade.
