Alleins is very picturesque little village of 2000 inhabitants that has managed to remain unspoilt from mass tourism. It is a typical village in the heart of Provence, in the South-East of France. The book A Year In Provence could have been written in Alleins. Instead it was written in Menerbes, a village nearby :-) Alleins is located just between Aix-en-Provence and Avignon. If you plan to visit the South of France, I recommend you take time to wander into the village and spend a sunny afternoon trekking in the hills, la garrigue. The village has plenty of B&Bs (Gites Ruraux or Logis de France) and a camp site where you can stay and appreciate further the laid-back lifestyle of Alleins.
