Replacement TherapyLine up five students in front of the class. Each student has responsibility for a single part of speech. A suitable sequence would be:
Article ...Noun ...Verb ...(leave a gap) ...Pronoun ...Verb
The first three children should construct sentences by, one at a time, stating a word in accordance with their assigned part of speech. It is helpful if they hold the position for each grammime in front of themselves.
The man walked
The birds fly
A fish swims
The fourth and fifth children are asked to replace the first two children with a suitable pronoun and to repeat the verb.
The man walked ...He walked
The birds fly ... They fly
A fish swims ... It swims
As new parts of speech are learned, this activity can be extended to include adjectives and adverbs.
