All ChangeBeginning with a simple sentence, 'John rides the bike', each player asks the next to change one word whilst maintaining the simple structure of the sentence:
(proper noun) (verb) (article) (common noun)
The game could flow as follows.
John rides the bike. (change the common noun)
John rides the horse (change the verb)
John strokes the horse (change the article)
John strokes a horse (change the proper noun)
The activity may be developed by allowing future and past tenses to be introduced so that players can either ask for the verb or the tense to be changed.
Susan strokes a horse (change the verb to the past tense)
Susan stroked a horse (etc.)
As an alternative activity the player can change the sentence and the following player must show and state the part of speech which has been altered.
Andrew saw an aeroplane.
Andrew flew an aeroplane (You changed the verb)
Andrew flies an aeroplane (You changed the tense of the verb to the future)
