Early Football in Ipswich
In 1878 the Ipswich Association Football Club was formed, it was not until 1936 that the club turned professional, Ipswich Town were elected to the league in 1938 my picture of the ground believed to be from that first league season shows what is thought to be the match v Colchester on 05/02/1938 (attd 23,890).

One of the postcards in my collection contains a picture of a very early football team, written on the back of the card is the description "Ipswich Tramways football team 1904-05" Ipswich Tramways . I have not yet been able to check this information, any details are welcome.
