bullet  Noted events in his life were:

• Military Service, 1914-1918, France / Italy / Austria. Fought in Ist World War. Service no 10984. 48 Division 1/4th Oxford & Bucks light infantry, went to France in March 1915. Wounded 1915. In 1916 the 1/4th were in action in the battle of the Somme around Ovilliers. In March 1917 the 1/4th made a gallent attack at Guillemont. In August they were again in action in the third battle of Ypres near St Julien.
The 48th Division moved to Italy in November, 1917 and the assisted in the defeat of Austrian attacks in June 1918. By the Armistice the Battalion was in Austria.
