 Smallest Picture |

Yes, that's the picture, somewhere between the two horizontal lines! The world's smallest image to have been released on the Information Superhighway was discovered by Obsian Fallicut during March 1996. As of 10 May 1996, hundreds of people have downloaded this picture and thousands ponder the puzzling problem of what exactly one is supposed to do with the internet's smallest piece of artwork.
Here are a couple of suggestions sent in by admirers. - At first, Brenda Banghart was extremely sceptical. 'When I work with something that tiny', she writes, 'it ends up screwing my eyeballs into the table (eeeeew not a pretty picture!).' However, within a short space of time Brenda was an enthusiastic convert and suggested, 'a gazillion of them be made for Tinkerbell to use as "pixel" dust'.
- With an eye on financial matters, Matt Drury suggests that the world's smallest picture be sent, 'to someone who pays by the minute for internet access'.
