Saying Goodbye
Once again a 'flashback' to a much earlier time in Nancy's life as a young child. We get a brief insight into what it's like when your mother and father go their separate ways. Nancy is broken-hearted and misses her father deeply, hoping that things could be different. This scene also moves to the present because Nancy still remembers this scene in adult life while she sings "father always made mother cry" and "so you say it to your sister, your brother, your friend and your lover..." Nancy also has a daughter (Little Perry) who is also going through the same problems with her father (Nancy's Lover) who also does not live at home with Nancy and their two children. As in the life-cycle of the butterfly, history can and does repeat itself from one generation to another...
