(Flashback) Again this scene shows us 'The Lover', this time as a young boy growing up in a hostile environment. The "towers falling" could therefore be either literal or symbolic images of his crumbling world. The song was originally written about a boy growing up in the then war ravaged city of Lebanon in the 1970-80s, and the devastating effects on both himself and his family. In fact the Lover could be Lebanese in origin who perhaps re-settled in the West with his family during the conflict as refugees.
