When The Rains Come
This scene is the wedding itself. Nancy and her Lover stand in front of the congregation (perhaps the same church that the Lover visited back in "Soul Man"..). We have reached a point in the ceremony where they are standing face to face and saying their vows to one another. This song is about reaching goals and ultimate fulfillment - seeing 'dreams' become reality, maybe perhaps after many years of sowing, soul-searching, patiently waiting, hoping against all hope and yet being steadfast and faithful to the end. This is "The Promised Land" where new possibilities and opportunites lie ahead waiting to be explored and where new challenges and adventures are born. "The Rains come" in the desert sometime after several years of drought - This is where Nancy and her Lover have been for quite some time, but now the "rains" have come and the desert landscape before them is now changing and blossoming with new colours all around them...
