Could It Be
Nancy and her Lover have arrived at their new home. It is a house on top of a hill. Their children are now asleep inside and the couple stand hand in hand outside their front door on their wooden veranda which overlooks the City. It is dark but they can see both the house lights of the sleeping community all around them as well as the 'city lights' of New York in the distance. Nancy and her Lover have now in a real sense arrived at the 'summit' mentioned earlier in the song "Two Flags". They have together climbed out of the mist and 'murk ' of the city towards a new life "high on a hill where the view is clear". As they stand together in each other's arms looking out across the cityscape in front of them they sing to each other this anthem. It is a song that asks the question "Could it be we'll last forever, could it be we'll stay together..? " There may be no absolute guarantees in this life, but the one thing that they hope above all else will last forever is their love for each other...
