Background

Broughton Grounds is an under watched area of Farmland, Woodland, and Gravel Pits on the edge of Milton Keynes. It is usually fairly undisturbed, and a good variety of birdlife can seen relatively easily. In addition, there is a thriving fox population, and most visitors can expect to see Chinese Water Deer grazing in distant fields.

I'm also reliably informed that this is a good site for the Long-winged Conehead, a species of Bush-Cricket.

UPDATE: Dec 2003. the small ponds next to the car park have now been largely filled in by the Gravel Workings.

The Footpath between the grounds and Salford Road does however go across the border into Bedfordshire, where there is a large muddy area still good for the occasional wader.
